A lesson from Chubs.

A lesson from Chubs.

With my art, I’m usually inspired by photographs. I like to take them and reimagine them. My backgrounds are always carpet-inspired!

Chubba Bubba is a special piece. My muse for this was a childhood friend who I’ve always seen as a dreamer, the kind of human who carries the spirit of: "If I can see it, I can have it." From the outside looking in, she truly lives the life of a manifestor, speaking her dreams into existence.

It’s funny looking at the finished piece now and realizing the lesson I learned from sitting with her. I stretched way outside of my comfort zone here, as I’d never really played with realism before. I started her, but then she sat for a year... until I applied for a “Sweet Treats” exhibit. I knew I had the perfect piece, so I busted her out of hiding.

I said I could finish her, and I did. She ended up being a gallery favorite! She fueled my confidence to stand in my worthiness and helped me realize that my gifts deserve to be seen. I tell people I am a master manifestor; Chubba is a manifestation, and these words are a manifestation. I am in awe of the reflections of myself.

And to my Chubba: Be brave and courageous. Step out of your comfort zone for the things you deserve. Stop playing small. You have a baby girl growing up with wonder in her eyes, watching you be everything you desire. Show her what is possible.
